WATERSHED 101 SEMINAR

Over 100 people gathered at the Platte Valley Community Center Theatre to hear University of Wyoming Professor Emeritus Quentin Skinner present Watershed 101.  SER CD provided this opportunity for residents to learn more about our most precious natural resource—water!  Session 1 included a historical perspective of unregulated streams and Session 2 covered stream function of riparian zones and fish habitat.

With the Pathfinder Modification Project and the Change of Use Hearing being pushed by the State of Wyoming, water resources in Carbon County are in jeopardy.  All water users will be affected by the results of this hearing.  Dr. Skinner’s presentation explained the importance of stewardship practices by agricultural interests and the benefits these practices make to the overall health of water resources.

Those in attendance included sportsmen, agriculture interests, municipalities, local and state elected officials.
