In addition to programs for kids, we offer programs for adults.
Animal Grazing Behavior Workshop Highlights Dr. Fred Provenza of Utah State University provided a different perspective on grazing practices at the recent seminar. His concept of “grazing across landscapes” and changing traditional patterns can help producers better manage riparian areas, control weeds and introduce unfamiliar food sources. Over 60 ag producers and local, state and federal agency personnel attended the two day seminar. Sponsors of the event were SERCD, Medicine Bow Conservation District, Carbon County Weed & Pest, High Desert Lunch Speaker Series Rawlins BLM Office and the George B. Storer Foundation.
Stewardship Workshop Over 80 people attended the workshop held in Saratoga and hosted jointly by SER C.D., Laramie Rivers C.D., Medicine Bow C.D. and Little Snake River C.D. Those in attendance explored the implementation, structure, and benefits of stewardship contracting. A tour of beetle-killed areas of the MBNF was also part of the 2-day workshop.
Conservation Education Day SER CD invited elected officials to the Stewardship Workshop. Field representatives from U.S. Senator Enzi and U.S. Senator Barrasso, and U.S. Congresswoman Cubin were in attendance. Jeb Steward, State Representative for HD47, and Carbon County Commissioner Jerry Paxton were present as well as Representative Colin Simpson, HD24, who was a featured speaker at the workshop.
